President & CEO
Christine Healy is an international energy transition executive with extensive experience driving value creation and growth across the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and Africa. She has led large-scale, innovative, and sustainable energy projects throughout her career and was recently named to the Global Top 275 Female Influencers of the Energy Sector.
Most recently, Christine served as President of AMEA (Asia, Middle East, Australia) for AtkinsRealis, a global leader in engineering services and nuclear energy. As a member of the Executive Committee, she played a key role in driving international expansion. Prior to this, Christine was Senior Vice President for Carbon Neutrality and Continental Europe at TotalEnergies, where she led efforts to reduce emissions, enhance operational efficiency, and develop new energy solutions, including large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) and nature-based initiatives. She also oversaw major oil and gas projects in Europe and Asia and served as President & CEO of Total E&P Canada, transforming the business to deliver profitable growth through strategic partnerships.
Earlier in her career, Christine was Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel at Maersk Oil and Gas, responsible for M&A, business development, and legal strategy across 14 countries. She also held senior roles at Statoil (now Equinor) and has worked in private legal practice and as a senior advisor to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. A lawyer and economist by training, Christine is known for her leadership, strategic thinking, and expertise in stakeholder management, creating value through complex negotiations and long-term partnerships.
Christine is currently a board member of CNRL, one of Canada’s largest companies, further solidifying her leadership in the energy sector.
As the interim Chief Financial Officer, Adam currently leads a global team overseeing key functions, such as capital markets, financial planning, development finance, risk management, tax strategy, financial reporting, and internal controls. With a background as Northland’s VP Finance and Head of Capital Markets, Adam brings over 18 years of professional experience to the role. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Accountant (CPA). Adam will continue to oversee the finance function until a new CFO is appointed.
As Chief People Officer, Rachel is responsible for all aspects of Northland’s Human Resources strategy, including talent management, leadership development, compensation and benefits, as well as leading all human resources functions globally. She works closely with the Executive team to ensure Northland continues to build a culture that attracts, retains and develops high performance talent to deliver on its global growth objectives. She joined the company in January 2021.
Rachel brings to Northland more than 15 years of leadership in Human Resources, including extensive experience leading human resources strategies and functions for national and global organizations across multiple sectors, technologies and geographies. Most recently, Rachel served as Vice President Human Resources for Signify, where she led and oversaw the execution of the human resources strategic growth objectives across Canada, the United States and Latin America, a position based in the USA she held since 2016. Prior to Signify, she was Vice President, Human Resources for Schneider Electric where she was based in France, UK and Canada.
Rachel holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management from Sheridan College.
Yonni serves as Chief Administrative & Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Northland. He oversees a diverse global portfolio encompassing Legal, Corporate Secretarial, ESG, Enterprise Risk Management, Public Affairs, Community & Indigenous Affairs, Brand & Communications and Information Technology. Yonni empowers his teams to drive business success by delivering business-enabling legal counsel, ensuring governance practices, fostering relationships with local and Indigenous communities, building Northland’s brand, advancing sustainability initiatives and collaborating with governments in key markets.
With over 25 years of professional experience, Yonni began his legal career in a prestigious Boston law firm before joining Aecon, where he held pivotal roles, including Chief Legal Officer, Chief Sustainability Officer and Corporate Secretary and cultivated an award-winning legal team adept in navigating complex projects, corporate governance, M&A transactions, procurement and risk management.
Yonni's leadership extends beyond the corporate sphere, evidenced by his chairmanship of the Ontario Bar Association’s Construction and Infrastructure Law section. He holds a magna cum laude Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Southern California and a cum laude Juris Doctor degree from Boston University School of Law. Admitted to the bar in Ontario, California, and Massachusetts, Yonni is distinguished by his commitment to sustainability, holding several relevant designations.
Toby Edmonds serves as the Executive Vice President of Offshore Renewables, overseeing global operations, delivery, and growth initiatives. With over 25 years of experience in the energy industry, Toby previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Maple Power, where he was responsible for the successful delivery of development and construction projects across Germany, France, and the UK. Prior to Maple Power, Toby held various senior roles at RWE, including Project Director for the Gwynt y Mór and Galloper wind farms and the Director of Asset Management and Operations.
Toby holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering & Management from the University of Reading, as well as a Diploma of Business Administration from the University of Warwick Business School.
As Executive Vice President of Onshore Renewables, Michelle is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the onshore business unit globally, including operations, delivery and growth for onshore wind, solar and storage technologies.
Michelle has 17+ years of renewable energy experience. She joined Northland in 2016 as Managing Director of Canada/US Development, where she oversaw Northland’s expansion into the US market through the acquisition of three onshore wind farms in New York State, two of which are currently under construction.
Before joining Northland, Michelle was Country Manager with SunEdison, overseeing the Canadian business segment. In her previous role as Vice President of Business Development with GDF SUEZ Canada, Michelle oversaw development and construction for the solar project pipeline. Prior to this, Michelle held senior positions with SkyPower Corp, most recently as Vice President, Solar Group where she led the team that developed Canada’s first fully operational solar farm, ‘First Light’, a nine-megawatt solar photovoltaic facility in Ontario.
Michelle is a current board member of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (past-chair) and is past-chair of the Board for both the Canadian Wind Energy Association and the Canadian Solar Industries Association.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
As Executive Vice President of Thermal & Utility, Calvin is responsible for overseeing Northland’s portfolio of natural gas facilities and its regulated utility in Colombia, Empresa de Energía de Boyacá S.A E.S.P (EBSA).
Calvin has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry. He started his career as a power engineer, operating and managing thermal power plants. In 2011, following the successful launch of Northland’s Thorold Cogeneration station, where he was Chief Engineer, he transitioned into the field of renewable energy.
As Northland’s General Manager of Solar Operations, Calvin was able to shape the important build-out of the company’s portfolio of 13 solar projects in Ontario. Since that time, Calvin has taken on increasingly senior roles within Northland, gaining exposure to a wide variety of technologies and leading operational and business initiatives that have positively influenced every corner of the company. Most recently, as VP Operations, stationed in Madrid, he led the establishment of Northland’s business operations in Spain, which has quickly become a key European asset management hub for the company.
Pierre-Emmanuel (Pierre-Em) has over 25 years of experience in energy related projects in various segments and countries. He began his career as project manager, building HV substations for oil and gas plants with Schneider Electric, before moving to a business manager role, and ultimately an executive role where he lead international project teams, drove sustainable growth and developed the solar business. He left Schneider Electric in 2019 to act as a consultant in project delivery process, contracting, crisis and claim management. Pierre-Em brings a deep understanding of project management and knowledge in sales, construction, and operations to Northland Power.
As Executive Vice President, Project Management Office, Pierre-Em is responsible for the establishment and management of a stage gate process to manage project development spend according to clear development milestones and will ensure Northland’s projects are planned, managed, governed, and delivered in a consistent, transparent, and disciplined manor.
Pierre-Em holds a Master’s degree in Project Management from Grenoble INP.
